The Storno house is located in the main square of Sopron. It has two floors with many rooms where you can see a lot of artefacts that Ferenc Storno, the chimney-sweeper had collected during his life. Definitely worth visiting!

The house of a self made man who started out as a chimney sweep, this contains a rather fascinating collection of furniture, glass china and paintings in the old Storno family home. The building itself dates back to the 18th century I believe and is just opposite the Goat church.

The owner of this house was Ferenc Storno, originally a chimney-sweeper, he lived in the 19th century. He loved art and became a significant restorer. You can admire his collection of art in this museum. You can admire his art works and see the way of life of the family in the late 19th century.

The museum has just been renovated but several routes are possible, a bit as if at the Louvre you had to choose between the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo! No clear explanation on the content of the visits... We wanted to see the display cases on the amber route: disappeared or in another section of the museum, in any case unknown at reception... Our route (Fabricius house ) only showed us fairly redone interiors without satisfactory explanations. We would have liked to know who lived here, what jobs they did, the size of the families, etc. Certainly the presentation is superb but it remains in the form and not in the substance. A fault that is unfortunately quite widespread in contemporary museum fashion...

Not only the house, but the collection inside, which could be a museum too is worth to visit. YOu will have a little insight in the life of a "collector" family.

We went to this house that belonged to a chimney sweep artist. He and his family were collectors of many different but beautiful and historical objects. If you are interested in learning more about the people who lived here in the past this is a place to start. Highly recommend this to others.

Situated in the centre of the town, this interesting old house has been well restored with a very recorded story of life here almost 2 centuries ago. The only downside is the stairs which will be a major problem if you suffer from any mobility problems. Nonetheless it is well worth a visit
