The one thing about a visit to the Bratislavia City Museum is that the most memorable part of this attraction is the building that the museum is housed in. Housed in the stunning Old Town Hall if you've any interest in visiting the museum tour in for a treat but I found the climb up to the tower super and... More

Saved this for a day we knew was going to be wet and it was pretty good. Housed in beautiful old buildings and showing life in Bratislava through the ages it took a good hour and a half for us to complete. Downside was the utterly miserable woman on the cash desk (we watched her serve another couple and she... More

We had only a bit more than an hour in this museum which was not near enough time for us. The first floor was a lot of religious relics which was only mildly interesting but the higher the floor the more interesting. There is a senior discount and on this weekday we had the place to ourselves. I enjoyed this... More

You wouldn't know that this place existed and the staff are a bit cold, but don't let this put you off it is WELL worth a visit. Full of fantastic stuff plus you can go to the top of the tower for great views of the city.

A very cheap way to spend a couple of hours/half a day even, and quite a surprise, given the range and 'depth' of displays and attractions. The museum is well organised, with lots of interpretation boards in very good English, with a linear historic timeline. So, you start with some religious iconography. move through the middle ages and the socio-economic-political... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here and felt it was worth the entrance fee (6 euros). All exhibits have perfect English descriptions and there is also optional audio guides which we didn't use (additional cost). Yes as some have mentioned on other reviews there is the usual museum paraphernalia, which is not to everyone's taste but there is a wide... More

This museum currently hosts a very informative (and somewhat scary) torture exhibition. The museum in its totality is quite interesting, especially the lady wardens of the place who will tell you what to view next. We went because of the torture exhibition, and apart from the climb to the tower, was its most interesting part.

Loads to see and explore, climb the tower and look over the city, don't forget the torture museum down stairs ! as usual no photos or cafe....but cloakrooms and toilets. Probably the best value in town.

So as the title of this review suggests, the best part of this museum was the tower, where climbing to the top gives you an excellent view of the old town, castle and beyond. We found the content of the museum occasionally quite random and not especially interesting, but over all there was a wealth of information to take in... More
