The new theater is across from the old. Not much to see here but Hitler gave a speech from the balcony of the old theater. Mildly interesting.

Heart of Klaipeda

A small but beautiful square in a heart of Old town. There are different events happening during summer, but on a daily basis, local ladies are selling amber, souvenirs and other goods.

Anika the statue in Heart of the City!

Thus fairly large cobblestone square is located in the heart of Klaipeda , and not to far from the Cruise ship docking area! At one end lies the neoclassical red brick Drama Theater with the statue of Anika (Ann from Tharau). We were there on A saturday and happened upon a outdoor market with many different kinds of artisans. Very enjoyable hour of shopping and looking. They apparently due periodic concerts here as well.

Nice area with lovely architecture and some nice shops and restaurants. There is a shop that sells local food which looked fantastic but couldn’t get a seat.
