We walked over to spend some time with Frank Zappa across from the Frank Zappa square. He's in a parking lot. Hit the QR code and he'll call and chat with you! That was fun, he's like "why am I here?" Lots of local graffiti around the lot. Very casual.

I had a map and I knew the location of the statue. Dispite years of experience in girlguides, I had a hard time finding the statue. But eventually I came across it and I have to say I was astonished. It was an amazing feeling to stand there and look at the one and only Frank Zappa statue in the world. Definately a MUST see in Vilnius.

Not far from the old town on Kalinausko gatve near the crossing with the big Pylimo gatve, when the street starts climbing up the Tauras Hill, you'll find this modest statue, created by Konstantinas Bogdanas. It is said to be the first monument over this music legend. It is very easy to miss, but will you find it after ~100 m on the right hand side in a small square if you comming from Pylimo gatve.

Went to see this as it was only a short walk away from my hotel and I had been a great Zappa fan in my youth. As people have said, it is a very good likeness bust on a tall pedestal. Its setting in a small car park makes the whole thing a bit surreal. Not really worth going too far out of your way for but fun all the same.

this is just a metal head on a pole in a car park to be honest i don't realy know who frank zappa was some pop singer or other I realise that the significance was that it was allowed to be put up in 1993 but think anyone making a effort to go and see it now is going to regret not spending the time doing something more intresting it is not that easy to find anyway it is on the road from my hotel to the old town and I only noticed it on the third day

It is not just a monument to Frank Zappa, who has none whatsoever connection to Lithuania, never even been there. It is a monument to and symbol of the first heady and in many ways crazy first years of regaining independence in Lithuania. I have very strong doubts whether such monument would be possible now in the centre of Vilnius with all the cultural committees and intense public discusssions and clashes between public and officials as to what should stand where. Anyway – Frank Zappa stands there for over 20 years and is attraction for Vilnius citizens and for tourists. Not easily found, though, being tucked in a tiny overgrown square several blocks away from the old town.

We are here to say that this bust of Frank Zappa is for real!
If you are a music lover or an old hippie, we say this is a must see.
We asked our private tour guide to take us to the statue and it is in a parking lot.
The tour guide could hardly give us information other than it was approved by the municipality and put up by some artists.
Can you imagine how confused the Lithuanians must be when they see it?
Maybe they think that he was a great American hero.
We took several pictures and show it to all of our friends.
Go and look and if you get any more info, post it on trip advisor.

The Zappa statue is interesting in appearance but nothing special. It requires some appreciation for the purpose of making this statue to understand why it is an attraction in the first place. As a test of new democracy proclamations, some locals made the statue simply to see if they could get away with it. The proposal was surprisingly approved so they made the Zappa Statue. It seems that was the jest of this monument, somewhat interesting but not terribly important for your visit to Vilnius. We don't recommend targeting the Zappa Statue, which is located nearby the Holocaust Museum. However, if you want to visit the Holocaust Museum, you might as well stop for a moment to see the Zappa statue.

We saw this on the map and thought 'right, we have to go see what that's all about'!! TBH, it's just Frank Zappa's head on a very tall column - nothing else to see, but I like the fact it's just randomly there & the street art on the walls is pretty cool!
Still super crazy to see this there but it's always good to say you went to see Frank Zappa's head on a pole in Vilnius!! :D

The statue of Frank Zappa is in a quiet courtyard near the old town. It is worth a quick look at this unusual monument.
