In Soviet time Hotel Viru was good enough to accommodate foreigners. It also had to be good enough for the KGB ... The museum represents a collection of the stories of two worlds. In one of them, mostly existing on paper, happy Soviet people enjoyed a life of plenty and friendship, led by a single wise political party. The other world – the real one – had a nature much more diverse and complicated.

We walked into the Viru hotel and asked where the museum was. Turns out you need to book ahead of time (turns out we only had to wait 35 min for an English speaking tour). The tour is someone showing you two rooms that are kind of interesting, and then a view from the balcony. It's neat-- a bit pricey... More

Like other reviewers I thought 11 euro was a bit steep but the guide was very good and it was an interesting place. You need to book but we booked just day before.

Interesting peek to the Soviet world. However we imagined a wider tour (for 11€) The guide was polite and funny although his English skills could have been better.

Visited the KGB museum during or holiday in Tallinn. We were interested in the history of former Sovjet Estonia. Our female guide told her story with a touch of humor. The tour didn't cover much ground, however you were allowed to photograph and touch all the items in the rooms.

I very much enjoyed the one-hour tour. The guide had a good sense of humor. Plus, I had a little fun. She showed us the material left by the KGB when they left rather quickly, and some of the items included a rubber stamp and a stamp pad. The stamp, we were told, was the Russian word for "proper" meaning... More

The KGB museum was a highlight of our trip to Tallinn! Our tour guide was great and informative but also added a sense of humor to his routine. The views from the balcony were impeccable and the rooms were filled with lots to see. A must do if you find yourself in Tallinn!

Tour is two rooms with some left housing over KGB equipment. Guide has some interesting stories from soviet times and goes through the equipment in each room. A little light on actual facts and seemed a little like rumour and speculation at times but that was perhaps a sign of the times. Certainly recommend if you have time spare in... More

An interesting tour that really brings the workings of KGB operatives to life. The exhibits are incredibly detailed and show items, equipment, uniforms and the like of the officers that worked there at the time. The tour guide spoke very good English and gripped our attention throughout. The museum also allows you to go to the balcony which boasts fantastic... More

Interesting and educational tour with some pretty cool artefacts. The views over Tallinn from 23 floors up make it even more worth the 10 Euro admission price. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and spoke very good English
