Fantastic castle with nice stuff. Gardener was very pleasant, explained deeply what is growing in the garden and how was that used in medieval times. Good place to visit with family. Walking through dark steps with candle lamps was also awesome!

There are two castles, one is medieval and partially in ruins and the other much newer. We were given a helpful map and benefitted from clear explanations (in Lithuanian and English) which told us what everything was. You are given a lantern to light your...More

We had a great time on our visit, the place is not to big but is well adapted for kids entertainment.

Beautiful place and I believe that it was a beautiful castle sometime, based on images. It could be way better if it was reinstated and way better as a attraction for tourists. I believe it can compete with Malbork Castle, not at this moment though.

Another small castle in Gauja National Park worth some of one's time. I would recommend to park by Palasta iela/Zaļā iela intersection and approach the castle through a lovely park.

The castle is definitely worth the ride from Riga. The staff is very friendly and informative. Do not miss the tower.

We had a great tour of Cesis castle which has survived 800 years and was once the largest of the medieval Latvian fortresses. The history of the castle is very interesting - especially for history buffs like us. We took the bus from Riga to...More

The castle itself was my favorite of my 9 days in the Baltic States. Loved the stone walls and towers. We also were taught some of the games the children used to play during the period of the castle. We had a blast with the...More
