... if you happen to be passing through Cesis, as I was on a tour between Riga and Tallinn. Not a whole lot to see in the church, but its simple style is typical of Reformation styles.

There is nothing special here. Just a big old church in the center of Cēsis. The woman tries to persuade you take the tour to the tower.

This is a little gem of a church with so much history. Restoration is under way. They have displays of long lost relics. Impressive!

For a couple of euros you can go up to the bell tower where you will have a great view of the city. There are three stories, lots of stairs to climb.

Church is old, typical for that age when built. It is located in the old city centre near beuteful city square.

A very impressive 13th century gothic church. The small price of €2 to go up the tower is so worth the view you have at the top. A bit of a climb, but also well worth it.

It costs just €2 to go up the church tower, which gives you a nice view through metal grills in the bell tower. It is all stairs, rather than ladders, but the first section does involve narrow stone stairs. There was a small display in...More

Out of all churches I have seen, this one impressed me most. 13th century construction is massive and impressive. Church carries a lot of cultural and historical value since Livonian period. Once of the oldest remaining Gothic buildings in country will impress you both visually...More
