Nice forest, beach and the dune. I came by train from Dubulti to Lielupe and then had a nice walk through the forest directly to the park with amazing natural 800 m long and 100 m wide 17 m high dune formed out of wind-activity.
It is a quiet place for walking, no people on Sunday morning, you can feel the fresh sea air, with viewing platforms and an eco-trail. Nice and not so busy and quiet beach. I went back on foot to Dubulti which took me two hours by the sea.

Beautiful and easy trails with several info-spots that describe dunes and its nature (plants, birds, insects). We arrived by train and then walked more than 1 hour staring to the houses to the Jurmala open-air museum and after it started our trip at this wooden trail. It has 2 lines that lead you to the sea. There are peaceful place with large pines, great views from many dunes and birds singing.
For me it's one of the best place at Riga region with Green Dune (Kemeri - Zaļās kāpas taka).

It's an easy hike in a pleasant environment. There are wooden trails in some parts of the park which makes it even more interesting. You can read about the nature at several stops or simply enjoy the sound of woodpeckers.

The nature park is full of old beautiful trees and good trails. Easy to access with a bike and by foot, even with a good stroller. If you go pass the woods, you get to a lovely beach that is way less crowded than Jurmala. I would recommend this beach over the actual Jurmala beach any day! It's simply a quiet happy place compared to the tourist crowded end of the beach.
The museum in the woods is worn down but with under 1 euro for the entrance fee it's fun little stop on the way.

A beautiful piece of natural environment, unfortunately at their beginning to be a park. According to eventually wide measyres best way to see all is riding a bycicle. Has some gigh dunes with possibility to drive down, but be aware there are lot of trees around. Jurmala Open Air Museum is directly inside park and there are some things to see. Outside of museum ir garbage filled concrete WW2 fortifications, take a local to find them if You have an interest. Be ready to drive (for advanced ones) or bring bycicle through soft sand near estuary of river Lielupe. And keep in mind that there are one of first nude beaches in Latvia. Ayway nice place to have a nice rest.

Best freshwater seaside beach anywhere. Swimming 5 months a year. Midnight swimming and mountain biking in July.

We had cycled from Riga and enjoyed our first natural stop at the Ragakapa Park. I am sure there will be plenty of interesting trails to follow, and we felt a sense of discovery on the small paths/trails we followed there. We happened upon the open air museum for the local fishing trade, it was interesting to see the history through the years and is worth a stop to see the recreation of the buildings where people will have lived and the many artefacts from the fishermen. It also had a small play area for kids. A nice place.

In my opinion, Ragakapa Nature Park and Lielupe (the administrative territory where this park is located and which is part of Jurmala resort town) are one of the most easily accessible spots for a leisurely day outside Riga. It takes only ~ 25 minutes by train, then you arrive in the quiet residential area of Lielupe, which in my humble opinion, is by far more enjoyable than the overrated Majori. After ~ 10-15 minutes by foot you'll reach the Ragakapa nature park where you can enjoy a nice walk and at some point take a left turn to come out on the beach. From there you can reach the mouth of River Lielupe. Later, if you fancy, you can treat yourself to a fine lunch in the local restaurant No. 36 which is located near the main entrance of the beach.
During the summer, surely it gets a lot more crowded in Lielupe beach, but never as bad as in Majori, the most popular part of the famous resort town of Jurmala. So even in the summer I think that Lielupe is the best alternative if you want to escape Riga by public transport - jump on the train and after a short while you'll be able to take a walk through the pine tree sheltered, quiet streets of Lielupe and maybe enjoy a swim in the sea. It must be noted, however, that the Baltic Sea is not really famous for its milky warm waters, but Jurmala is on the coast of the Gulf of Riga, so it is not as bad as the open sea.
On a final note, keep in mind that during the summer a section of the beach near the mouth of River Lielupe is reserved for nudists - so if that's not your thing then just turn to the right. :)

Perfect place for those appreciating fantastic fresh air from sea, walking in real wood on made wooden tracks, which are various routes.
Just for walking by foot.
To tell the truth there's nothing else to see or to do - if only beach to walk or to get sun tanning if you climb down from the dunes.
But I like this place a lot anyway. Full relax and no stress at all there. Like outside civilization.
