Well worth a visit

The building is located among many other fine 'Art Nouveau' buildings so keep your eyes on the buildings as you walk.

I would definitely recommend this museum. It is housed in one of the many beautiful Art Nouveau and Art Deco buildings in the Art Nouveau area of Riga. We were amazed by the number of wonderful Art Nouveau buildings in this area of Riga. The museum is set out like a typical Art Nouveau apartment would have been of that... More

This was a real find - a preserved floor of an apartment with full original art nouveau fixtures and fittings. I'd thoroughly recommend it.

We visited the museum before going down Albert St or nearby Elisabeth Street. Walking thru the front door of the building, it's not obvious the museum is the door on the right....how many others have asked up that lovely staircase by mistake? And once inside, no-one explained that there was a ground floor as well as a basement! And in... More

The museum is split into 2 parts; downstairs is a nice interactive display giving information about Art Nouveau architecture and design. You can design a house and a diploma and print them off as a souvenir. Upstairs is a wonderful example of how an apartment at that time would have been furnished. The staff are dressed in old costumes, too.

The approach along Alberta street has some fantastic Art Nouveau building facades. The lobby of the museum has a spectacular spiral staircase and then the visit begins in the basement with quite a good film about architecture in Riga. The staff were very friendly and enthusiastic about the museum and its period. The apartment was rather disappointing as it was... More

The museum is not worth visiting. It has a few rooms, quite badly decorated. The only great thing about this museum is the staircase, which is lavishly decorated and is a great element of the art nouveau style.

Very interesting, informative. Nostalgia! I remember from my childhood many things, presented in the Museum. Very pity the movie does not translate to English.

Every inch of this house has been designed in great detail and great good taste by its original architect-owner, a lover of art nouveau. The wall coverings, stained glass, ceramics, glassware, even the cutlery, are icons of the art nouveau genre. Well worth a visit. One of the great art nouveau museums of Europe.

An excellent modern museum in a beautifully refurbished building. Lots of information regard Riga's part in the Art Nouveau movement including interactive and static displays in the basement and the whole first floor perfectly staged as an apartment of 1903. We found the staff very enthusiastic and attentive. A very memorable couple of hours.
