Enjoyed visiting this gallery which covers the full timeline of Latvian Art from 1780. Not all to my taste but there were many pictures I enjoyed looking at. The building was impressive in its own right.

Started with the roof terrace giving great view. Architecture of top two floors, 5th then 4th, fantastic. Art work varied and wonderful. The lower 3 floors are literally palatial.

This museum is very stylish and so well renovated that it is a piece of art itself. The rooms are spacious and it is easy to walk through the exhibitions. The paintings and Latvian art are suprisingly familiar to Finnish corresponding.

the building itself is spectacular from the amazing entry and staircase to the 2 rooftop terraces. In between an interesting range of Latvian art from early days of "Latvian" history, it's first independence in 1918 the Iron Curtain era and post 1991 independence.

It was a really nice and beautiful visit. If you have enough time and enjoy modern art, it's a really good option.
