- max vEurope174 contributionsOne of the symbols of the cityOne of the symbols and one of the main attractions of the city. The spire of St. Peter's Church is the most recognizable part of it and an integral part of the panorama of Riga. After the restoration, the building housed an exhibition and concert hall. For me, the most interesting is the observation deck with excellent views.Visited May 2023Written June 10, 2023
- Srlon149 contributionsThree stars because the person at the ticket counter was ill-mannered and so I decided not to pay yo enterThe views from the tower seemed nice but I decided not to pay €9 to enter the church and the tower because when we asked the staff at the ticket counter how many flights of stairs we needed to climb before reaching the lift that would take you up to the tower, she was nonchalant, shrugged her shoulders and said we should read the posters. Well, the information we needed was not on the posters. I could not be bothered to pay €9 and encourage this kind of attitude.Visited June 2023Travelled with friendsWritten June 15, 2023
- Russ LacuataLong Beach, California8,569 contributionsViewing PlatformSt. Peter's Church is located in Old Town Riga near Town Hall Square and the House of the Blackheads. It is one of the oldest monuments of medieval architecture in the Baltic States. The attraction is the viewing platform that gives you the amazing view of Old Town Riga. Definitely worth the entrance fee. I do recommend visiting at the start of your trip to get a panoramic view of the city, and you can get a better understanding of how Riga is laid out.Visited May 2023Travelled soloWritten July 4, 2023
- FluffyFlamingoGermany14 contributionsImpressive!Impressive church. The view from the tower is breathtaking, but the church itself is also worth a visit. There are currently two small exhibitions, one on the Reformation in Eastern Europe and one about the Latvian song tradition, which I found quite interesting. Some complain about the entrance fee for the church, but I find this justified as the maintenance of the building certainly does not come cheap. Definitely a must if you visit Riga.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten August 29, 2023
- Brittany_11_10Los Angeles, California1,709 contributionsGo for the tower viewsOutside, the church is old and impressive and beautiful (in that old, historic kind of way). Inside, it wasn't particularly stunning, and in fact, we commented on the lack of stained-glass windows (as there were a few panels, but that was it; it seemed very...unfinished?). The best part of St. Peter's Church is the tower, and the fantastic views of Riga that the observation deck offers. You do have to pay, and it was a bit more than we were expecting (I can't remember exactly how much), but we really enjoyed seeing Latvia's capital city from that vantage point.Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten September 11, 2023
- Neil SLondon, United Kingdom296 contributionsGood, but with information could be excellent.Staying in Old Town, very close to Church, so popped in and had a look around. Lots of interesting things around, but no information about anything; only City history boards. Impressive architecture, and worth paying to go up tower, so long as you can stand heights. Worth a visit.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten September 13, 2023
- mrskrunLarvik, Norway2,874 contributionsBeautiful church rich in historySt. Peter’s church is a must for all visitors in Riga. The church’s tower offer stunning 360° panoramic view of the city. There’s an option to buy ticket for the church only (€3) or church & tower (€9). We chose the latter. The church itself is simple and old and has a history dating back to 1209. Destroyed several times by fire, lightning and war. The church had undergone many reconstructions. What you see today appears to me like it wants to be a museum and church at the same time but they don’t know how to achieve this goal. It looks more like an unfinished museum with a church in the middle. But if you pay attention to the details, everything is there. The remnants of the old church, information and photos on the boards for all to read and beautiful church or basilica design. The tower is undeniably impressive and nothing beats that attraction in Riga. The elevator is located on the third floor of the church. It was very windy when we came, no wires nor steel enclosures to block the view. It was absolutely fantastic and an amazing experience. It’s worth the €9 entrance to see the tower & the church.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten October 28, 2023

Nice church in the old town of Riga. Unfortunately it was closed the times I visited so I couldn’t go inside, but I did enjoy walking around the exterior

This is an impressive church with a spire so high it's overlooking the entire old city.
Opening hours vary and are sometimes inconsistent with what's written on the church's plaque.

Price is 9 eur for adult. I think it's worth going up and seeing Riga from above. the church itself is beautiful and has a book where you can write your thoughts and prayers.

Got told off in the church for taking photos with an actual CAMERA. I asked why it was ok for all the other people using phones to take photos and got some piffle about “professional” cameras. What a load of rubbish. And no signs about this at all. They were ok taking €9 off me though. Good view from tower but otherwise a low quality experience.

Definitely worth a visit while in Riga. While the church is not that special on the inside the views from the tower are great.

The focal point of Riga, this church was restored from 1967 to 1983 though you wouldn't know it as it still looks old. You can go up the tower to the observation point to overlook Riga if you wish.
