Visited here for the winter nights at the zoo. It was only €2 entry per person which I though was take good. The zoo looked all nice in the snow and all the lights and bonfire in the middle of the zoo. There wasn't that much to see but it was something different as I've never been to a zoo... More

A bunch of us visited the Riga Zoo and we were a bit disappointed. The zoo wasn't that big and the animals seemed quite tired.. There wasn't really anything too special in the zoo either, so I wouldn't necessarily spend my holiday here, instead there are many better things to do in Riga.

im suprised uo read the review below...i have been hete 3 times over the last few years and it was great fun and very good price on each visit. the photo of small kangaroos (alledgedly starving) are actually baby kangaroos. it seems that because somebodys watch wasnt working very well and they forgot to get out of the zoo on... Where do I start... Although the zoo seems big, half of the spaces are empty & the animals we saw were so skinny it nearly made us cry (SEE photos)! The smell in the houses we went it (giraffes, flamingos) was awful, & the zoo should seriously take some time in cleaning these poor animals places! We were never told... More

Our family like this place a lot since very young childhood - just now visit this place with our children already. Means interesting in generations. There's something magic in Rīga zoo. Perhaps because of wonderful green Mežaparks district near to Ķīšezers lake. Fresh natural air, lots of walking roads, many animals (despite no more elephants there), simply nice! Can assure... We visited in November, on a day with temperatures barely above freezing, moderate breeze, and a drizzly rain. Needless to say, not many people there. If we say 30 others, I'd be surprised. But there were no lines :) The animals came up to us and seemed interested. I think with the small 'crowds' they weren't overwhelmed. This isn't a... More

Zoo is not really big, but have lots of animals. No really normal places to eat/drink. Just walking around and watching to the animals behind the grids, no any shows or any other attraction.

Getting there from city centre was quite easy we took a bus, about 40mins. Cheap entrance. Only thing I would say is the map provided isn't clear and doesn't match the walkway accurately you can end up missing out some animals. Avoid the so called 'souvenir' shop more like a cheap tatty road side stall.

Easy to reach from old town by tram No.11. I was at the end of season and still it was a great outdoor activity for almost three hours.

Excellent place to visit with your family or friends. This is a great place to have a nice walk around green area and well-maintained animals. Lovely giraffes.
