This street has magnificent historical Art Nouveau buildings located along the entire length. The street was constructed from 1901 to 1908.
Each house is decorated by figural sculptures, and facades with protruding balconies, columns, and other elements characteristic of Art Nouveau architecture.
This time, we visited in the evening and noticed that only a few buildings were beautifully lit. So the best time to visit is daytime.

If you’re visiting Central Riga, don’t miss this street renowned for its stunning Art Nouveau architecture. We explored it early in the morning and found it to be serene and picturesque. The area truly deserves your attention. We suggest strolling along both sides of the street at a leisurely pace to fully appreciate the beautiful details and charm.

You can put this street on Google Maps (also called Albert Street) and find the way to go there from the Old Town, takes maybe 10 to 15 minutes on foot. On the way you will also start to see art noveau buildings. It is a small street, not so much to see honestly. I expected more. But if you are in Riga then ok, you should go. I prefered the Old Town due to it being more colorful and with more options for photo spots.

Even when being born in Riga, this is my favourite street in the city, and I can't get enough of it for all these years (really!). Though I recommend you to start the trip to the "Quiet centre"(this is how we call this part of the city) from the Antonijas street, as it is also very beautiful. Then go through Alberta, paying attention to each and every detail, and you will find yourself on Strelnieku. There is a very nice souvenir shop that I recommend to visit, and the Jugendstil museum. Truly to say, I would suggest to enter the building of the museum only for looking on the impressive stairs it has. No need of going inside.

It is located in quiet center of Riga. Close to Old Town. It has good architecture and very cosy museum. It gives a good impression about life in Riga at that time. There is an audioguide (in that museum), very friendly staff, and You could get fun, making some photoes into this museum and try on hats on entrance hall.
It is worthwhile to attend at the Riga's city festival, what is organized at first weekend in August. Then this street becomes a place for meeting for many other peoples, but local people are walking to this street, are making many performances and you could take part in its...You could get very interesting an old fashion photoes , could visited a few salons, taste latvian food and beer. And there are also many charcters from these old times- newspaper boys, policeman-''gorodovoj'', attractive janitor, fireman brass band, townsfolk,,, Mr. Pliekshens and his wife-the best architect of that time in Riga, he is the architetc of many buildings on that street and in other places in Riga, Blaumanis-very popular Latvian writer. By the way he was living on the third floor at the building where is the Art Nouveau museum, and his apartmnent is similar like that. It is friendly place for children too- they could take part in many masterclasses-making pictures, painting ceramic tiles, making jewelry for themselves makinfg flower bouquets at the florist offices...Many many things to do.And if You want to have dinner or lunch - there are good places for that. I recommend Riviera, Flying frog, and if you want something unusual and non typical for mostly people from Europe-you could go to Russian tractier. Don't miss to visit the surroundings-Elizabeth street, Dzirnavu street, Alunana street, Antonias street- watch up for decorations and details on the facades of that buildings, there are no two identical on its.Welcome to Riga!

This is a beautiful street but at the moment is having a lot of refurbishment work so a lot of the buildings are covered or in the process of being restored.
It is not a very long street and you could easily miss it.
While I wouldn't say it was a must see especially at the moment if you have time it is not too far from the old town.

When in Riga with a guided tour to the Baltic capitals, I had elected not to join the group on a visit outside the city intending on visiting Riga’s famed Art Nouveau Museum. Having lived in Miami—Art Deco capital—for almost three decades, I had come to appreciate the clean architectural lines and features. I was not disappointed! After leaving the museum, I turned the corner onto Albert Street (Alberta iela), a block-long street renowned for its Art Nouveau buildings. The street was named after Bishop Albert, who founded Riga in 1201. The buildings lining this street were designed by Russian architect Mikhail Eisenstein who was particularly active in Riga beginning in the late 1890s (when the gaudy Victorian era faded the way of the Elizabethan era). Art Nouveau reached its peak shortly before its decline caused by the First World War.
Art Nouveau architectural style uses structural & decorative elements common in Europe a century ago. Konstantīns Pēkšēns abundantly used Art Nouveau design on Alberta iela at the same time. Pēkšēns’ former residence at 12 Alberta iela, and now houses Riga Art Nouveau Museum. This must-see museum is in the first floor apartment. When strolling along Alberta iela, I saw two professional photographers honing immense camera lenses onto features of various buildings. My poor quality accompanying photos will never do justice to those, or the photo book I purchased in the Art Nouveau shop across the street from the Museum. There's no cost to enjoy admiring these architectural marvels that somewhat may be compared to San Francisco's Painted Ladies, though the architectural styles differ significantly.

Well worth a trip here, got the 24 bus from near our hotel. Nice to walk up and down each side of the street and gaze up at the facades. A bit hard to find the museum, but glad we did as it was excellent and at Euro 3.50 a real bargain. They need a larger sign outside !!

A street to walk along in awe of every building. Each building is a work of art in its own right - truly stunning.

Pamestā Latvija?
Спасибо за ответ!

Do you need a tour guide for the street and neighborhood?
Written May 20, 2016
You can easily make it on your own; then you will be more flexible. However, I suggest to read about the street beforehand, so that you know its history, its main architect Eizenshtein, etc. Then you will have totally another walk, full of knowledge and understanding.
