I took a trip during a colder month so wasn't expecting the full beach experience. However, as nobody else was around it made for an incredibly peaceful beach walk. The whole Curonian coast was a delight but I particularly enjoyed strolling along Nida beach.

Located on the east side of the Curonian Spit, by Lithuanian named Neringa, some kilometers north of the Russian enclave Kaliningrad, you’ll find this nice little town and you reach it from Klaipeda by bus, car or bicycle and you need to take the ferry from Klaipeda some hundred meters over the harbour channel to Smiltyne. The town has two beaches, one 1,5 km away, facing the Baltic Sea in the west, with endless sand shores and one in the east near town , facing the Curonian Lagoon. Here you also have the fishermen’s harbour and the yacht harbour. Both sides have its charm and invite you for long promenades with fantastic views and a lot of fresh air. In the summer a lot of people come here to swim and relax in the sandy beaches and during the summer period it also use to be a lot of open air concerts near the harbour in town. Nida is also famous for its big number of vanes which stand along the sea promenade in the town. During off season this is a very calm and relaxing place to visit. Compared with the popular partying seaside resort Palanga 30 km north of Klaipeda, Nida is much more calm. I can strongly recommend a visit to Nida whenever you have a chance.

The Blue Flag nudist beach is the most beautiful not only in Lithuania, but also in all the Baltic States. Peace and order on the beach (as in the whole of Neringa) are chosen by people who like to be free, sunbathe and swim naked. Great beach.

In July water temperature was 15°C – way too cold to swim. Plus, the water was not clear at all. Lithuania is not a good destination for this kind of tourism, visit Vilnius or Kaunas instead.

The beach is very nice with clean white sand and good facilities. Unfortunately, the water quality is very poor and it is full of jellyfish. In general, the Baltic Sea is the dirtiest sea/ocean on this planet and the countries around it are doing far too little to improve the water quality. I do not recommend a bathing holiday on the Baltic Sea. Biking, hiking - yes... swimming - no

I never thought it was possible to find such beautiful beaches in Europe until I visited Nida. I was amazed by the sheer size and also the fine white sand. I walked for miles along a tranquil stretch that never seemed to end. This Is one of Lithuania's best kept secrets, that rivals any beach anywhere in the world.

Yes, this beach is a world heritage site for a reason...it is gorgeous! The best part was the friendly pink jellyfish. Maybe"friendly" is putting it too strongly. They don't sting. You can pick them up! Be kimd to them, of course. Plenty of room on the beach, soft sands, lifeguards, facilities, snack stands. Pretty much everything the beachgoer wants for a fun day. Oh, the water is cold, bracing one might say. But with an offshore breeze and sunshine, it was great. You should go!

Nida's beach is calm even in middle of season. It's clean, neat, has volleyball court, new changing cabins, rescuers and so on. It's much better than Palanga's beach.

I'm not really a beach person as I burn easily and get bored but I enjoyed my time at Nida beach. We did a short cycle ride from Nida itself which took about 10 minutes. There are changing areas about every 50 metres along the beach so no need to wear your swimming outfit there.
The beach is very clean with plenty of room for everyone and included a beach volleyball area.
Bare in mind that the Baltic Sea is not the warmest. We went in mid July and it was cold. So we didn't do much swimming but enjoyed the sun and walking along with our feet in the water.
There are nudist and female only sections of the beach if these are more for you.

The beach is great. Easily accessible and good to spend a few hours. The sea water is cold, but not too cold to have a swim.
