I visited this city in February. The atmosphere of this city is magical, history is everywhere. Basilica minor in the city center has one of the most beautiful altar I have ever seen. In order to have more intimate experience, it is better visiting Levoca not during the main summer season when the tourists are everywhere.

We came into this old city, on the way back from pissky Hrad (fortress) and we enjoyed strolling thru the city center.

Downtown of Levoca is maybe not as impressive as some other towns in Slovakia but it is full of places and building worth to visit. So it is a collection of mediaeval buildings which are each separately very beautiful. But is does not create a unified historical place as some of the buildings are not restored.

It costs four euros per person to take a guided tour and learn about so much of Levoca's interesting past history. They have many marvellous old paintings as well. It's a very large building and you can easily spend an hour or more. They usually have some interesting exhibitions showing there, especially during summer.

I love Levoca town centre. It has some really nice buildings and offers a nice, pleasant walk in all types of weather. Some buildings are a bit run down though. There are a few good restaurants on the square but they all close at 22:00 so there's nothing to do in Levoca in the evening.

Actually visited in 2017 with the S.O. Beautiful, affordable, quiet and out of the way location easy to reach via an affordable and easily accessible train. Lovely museum and outstanding fall colors.

It is not crowded place, you can slowly just walk on this nice centre, drink great coffe or just watch. Excellent for slowly afternnon and resting

Well maintained old town
surrounded by defending walls and beautiful gates. Worth to come and visit this fantastic streets and colorful detached houses. The biggest disadvantage is lack of good restaurant open on Sunday. We had to go to Poprad for a lunch. Everything is to walk within 1-2 hours.

The rectangular area of the Master Paul Square is bordered by more than 60 Gothic and Renaissance burgher and patrician houses, mostly from the 14th and 15th centuries. The principal dominating features are grouped in the middle of this square and include the Lutheran Church, the Renaissance Town Hall (also called Master Paul's House), the bell tower, and St. James Basilica Minor. The church, with its unique collection of altars, and especially the gilded main altar (61-ft. high), which was carved from lime wood by Master Pavol, is the world's tallest Gothic altar. It alone deserves to be seen for its splendor. Strolling through the square is certain to produce a truly memorable experience.
