We stayed in Lauterbrunnen Valley for 6 days in mid May. I can not imagine a more perfect place from which to explore the Jungfrau region of the Swiss Alps. The valley itself was peaceful and beautiful with it's green meadows, towering cliffs, and multitude of waterfalls. A combination of trains and cable cars from the Lauterbrunnen station provided easy... More

It's so beautiful that looking at the scenery will make all feel relaxed and be awed by nature. Now I understand why this is the inspirations for Middle Earth in Inspirations for Middle Earth in JRR Tolkien's Rivendell. The best way to admire the valley is to take a hike from Lauterbrunnen to Stechelberg. Very easy hike and takes around... More

Mostly level, reasonably well marked path made for a very nice introduction to the Jungfrau area. Saw base jumpering off the ledges, many waterfalls, great views of soem of the Alps. All around thumbs up!

We took the train from Grindelwald to Lauterbrunnen, then walked thru the valley of waterfalls before taking the cable cars from Stechelberg to Schilthornbahn. The walk was easy and beautiful. So many waterfalls! On the cablecars we went thru the clouds, but once we were on the top we had mostly clear skies. Great trip! They are so organized you... More

lauterbrunnen, remains the most beautiful place i have ever visited. it literally means valley of fountains... a easy excursion on the way back to Jungfrau [top of Europe] via wengen or through interlaken. well connected through buses and trains, as always in Switzerland. countless waterfalls, staring from sky, many of them vanish in between in the mid air creating heavenly... There are a dozen or more water falls falling from shear rock cliffs. There are then many hiking trails along the bottom of the valley which provide great view of the falls and the resulting rivers created by the falls Park in the large lot near the church/Im Rohr Chalet, and then walk along a great trail to Staubbach falls.... A great experience, if you are lucky enough to arrive at the head of the Lauterbrunnen valley when the Schilthorn lift is under revision (in the low season) you might get a chance to ride up to Mürren on the old Steckelberg luggage lift. It takes twice as long as the speedy modern lifts and is a mite daunting as... More

We did an entire loop of the valley in one day: from our base in Lauterbrunnen we ascended via cable car to Grütschalp, walked to Mürren, cable car to Birg, then back down to Stechelberg. My review covers the path back from Stechelberg back to Lauterbrunnen where we had dinner and where our hotel was. This was a highlight of... More
