The lighthouse is well within walking distance of the town. The views from the lighthouse are stunning and are well worth the short walk.

This for us was a walk in the footsteps of Mariners of old and their loved ones, those keeping watch over the many souls that the Light House would light up and guide the way home.

You can drive right up to the rescued lighthouse but if you have arrived in Akaroa by boat it’s a 5 minute walk from the village. Little bit of Banks Peninsula heritage which makes an interesting holiday snap!

Well maintained on the exterior and overlooking a very scenic part of Akaroa. It was closed when we visited a few weeks ago and not sure how often it is open. It is one of the smallest lighthouses I have visited but very picturesque. As is the area around it in Akaroa. Easy walking to for people with mobility issues. The carpark area is only a few steps away.…
