Jeff and Suzie take max. 8 guests on their daily mail delivery run. So every day the route may be different depending on the mail they've got to deliver. Now you see all the small roads and hamlets you wouldn't normally see because they're so...More

Jeff and Suzie are the post contractors who gave us the best shore tour we had during our recent NZ cruise. We were met at the wharf in Arkaroa and went on an amazing journey as the friendly Jeff and Suzie delivered the mail to...More

Excellent Tour. There was a problem with the tenders getting off on time. They take their own booked tours off first and everyone else has to wait. Norwegian Jewel was ridiculously slow in getting us off. Finally we caught the tour as it was leaving,...More

Cruising gives you many options in many ports so it is difficult to select a tour to maximize your stay. LOOK NO FURTHER, THIS IS IT! Beautiful views, local history, great conversation, perfect stops and a home made cake with your tea! We absolutely loved...More

A great activity to explore the bays! Their beautiful views, their history, their mailboxes... You get a nice morning tea, great stories and jokes. The lovely mail-couple takes you on their daily tour around and on the scenic route. Big recommendation! We started and ended...More

What a fantastic tour - you can read all about it from the other, positive reviews. We agree with everything they've said. It really gives a good feel about what it must have been like for early settlers and how rural it is today. Make...More

We had the misfortune to be delayed in getting ashore from our ship (by the tender process). When we realised it was going to be a problem, we rang the booking company Akaroa Adventures and were told to get there as quickly as possible, and...More

Although it was a rainy and dreary morning, we were still looking forward to riding with Robin on Akaroa's Eastern Bays Scenic Mail Run. The red mail van pulled up across from the main wharf at 9:00 AM exactly as planned. My husband and I,...More

We have always booked ahead. I think we booked with the visitor centre. That opens at 9.00 and the mail run goes at 9.00 so I suspect that booking on the day won't work.

I think this may already have been answered. I booked through the Akaroa Adventure Centre. They're easy to find online. They're very helpful. You'll enjoy the experience.

It was $75 per ticket, so we paid $150. But this is payment in New Zealand dollars, which are worth about 75% of US dollar. So the true cost wasn't as much. Enjoyable way to see scenic Akaroa.
