I think we got super lucky with this. We saw little blue penguins, black back gulls, red bill gulls, tern, and two types of shag. We saw about a dozen Hector dolphins. We saw seals and a couple of stray sheep. To cap it off we were privledged to see multiple giant albatross, and I am sure I have missed some others. We saw some extraordinary geology including some exposed by the Australian navy. There was so much going on that Captain Roy and in his excitement was unable to be silent for long. Fox 2, because it is heavily built, and sails quietly, has to be is the best vessel in Akaroa Harbour to see the great beauty the ocean has to offer. Just do it. Already.

An amazing “must do” experience when in Akaroa. More authentic than the other options. I saw Hector’s dolphins, little blue penguins and seals, plus such interesting commentary about the history of Akaroa from the wonderful captain Roy. An absolute treat!

Spur of the moment decision however one of the best 3 hours spent. Excellent commentary and the ability to get close to shore to see the seals, shags etc. Plenty of opportunities to see the Hectors Dolphins up close. The ketch goes past the heads out into the Pacific Ocean and we were lucky enough to see Albatross looking for fish. Coming back under full sail with no motor is amazing. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Akaroa

Fox II is definitely recommended - we only saw a few dolphins and seals but despite that the whole experience was well worthwhile. Roy's commentary was very interesting, weaving history and present day together. At least half of the three hour experience was under sail, he played music to attract the dolphins - we enjoyed the whole trip. Well done, and thank you.

Myself & 8yr old Grand daughter went on this awesome Ketch, we spent about 3 hrs enjoying the Hector dolphins, seals & we saw 1 little blue penguin. The captain pointed out landmarks and explained the history of Akaroa as we sailed. When when stopped to enjoy the dolphins, music was played and it was like the dolphins were dancing around the boat. I would love to enjoy this cruise another time, great value, and an awesome afternoon, thank you.
