It was a fabulous relaxing and informative afternoon on the water. Filled with music, wildlife and the wind in your hair and the sun on your face. Tea and coffee is served and a great host and his assistant. You can go on the trip alone like I did and you get to meet people and enjoy the experience. Dolphins swim beside and around the boat with music which draws them to the boat. Most relaxing afternoon and. fabulous trip, a must if you go to Akaroa.…

I sailed with Capt. Ray in Dec. 2019. Never did I worry for my safety. It was a wonderful sail. Highly recommend. My husband was a single hander of a 40ft. sailing vessel, another friend single hands a 50ft. sailing vessel. If you are not comfortable being on the water in either a sailing vessel or powerboat, do not let that reflect on your judgement of the captain of the vessel you are on. A single experienced captain is worth more than an inexperienced captain and crew, hands down. I've been on vessels of various sizes and types all my life. So let me say again, highly recommend and was never worried. Have a wonderful sail with Capt. Ray.…

Captain Ray was hospitable and the boat was an interesting one of a vintage era. Capt Ray provided interesting information throughout. He was responsive to emails. I was most concerned, however, about the lack of safety. There were 16 passengers aboard, too many by far for a boat of this size. There was insufficient space and we were crowded together, most without a place to sit. Of greatest concern was the fact that Capt Ray was THE ONLY CREW with 16 passengers aboard! I asked how he would manage, in case of an emergency, to handle the wheel, take down the sails, and distribute life jackets all at the same (during safety briefing he informed us that, if needed, he would distribute the life jackets). He gave no plausible answer. When boarding, as the only crew, he was collecting money; there was no one to assist passengers aboard.…

The safety and wellbeing of my guests is my top priority. I operate a VERY safe vessel. It meets or exceeds all of the strict Maritime NZ requirements. My 20 ton sailing yacht can take up to 20 guests. I have 34 years of sailing experience and I'm fully qualified in all aspects of risk management and first aid. I try my best to provide a personal, genuine Sailing experience. Despite all this I guess I didnt please this Customer. Capt Ray

Captain Ray was WONDERFUL. He was light-hearted, funny, knowledgeable, but also safe. It was such a wonderful couple of hours where we saw a lot of wildlife and enjoyed the company of everyone on the boat. This was my husband and I's last activity for our honeymoon and it was perfect.…

We arrived by cruise and were a bit hesitant to go back on another sea excursion but the fact that this is a sail boat made all the difference! With no engine dozens dolphins chased us, playfully following us around. We saw several seals and even a couple of blue penguins, which usually shy away from people or noises. Ray the sailor was very knowledgeable and an excellent host on his beautiful timber boat from the 1949s which was designed to with the Sydney to Hobart race. Highly recommended.…
