This is a quiet, shady area of bush which includes some interesting specimens, an old-fashioned kids playground, some lovely viewpoints and access to the Akaroa cemeteries. I enjoyed an evening walk here and sighted my first ever brown creepers (Mohoua novaeseelandiae) as well as bellbirds, kereru, riroriro, yellow hammers and plenty of other birdlife. Pleasant short walks - main track (suitable to wheelchair/stroller, with a bit of effort) and various side tracks (walking only). A number of specimen trees, including those planted to commemorate events such as the end of WW1 and the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. One option is to go through to some of the old Akaroa cemeteries - Catholic, Anglican and 'Dissenters'. History and exercise in one trip! Children's playground at one of the top entrances, near the start of Onuku Rd.…

This is a beautiful walk in tall trees BUT it is poorly signposteed so it is easy to get lost. At the top are 2 old cemetaries. A real adventure, nature walk!

A place for quiet contemplation and a playground area for children. There are a number of trees planted to commemorate significant historic events and viewing points to look over the harbour. …
