Room was spotlessly clean and had a lovely view over the bay. Staff were helpful and friendly (o.k. Lochie the Dog was a bit grumpy, but we've got one who has bad days too). Lots of quirky things to see and do.

This place is an absolute dream! I was astonished with the kindness of the skipper waiting for a couple to board the boat, giving them directions via the phone. The incredible dolphins he spotted on the way made for a truly remarkable experience. Dining at...More

this is an interesting place for children - plenty to see and do. But can get busy and boisterous with day trippers from Picton just wanting a fun/boozy day out. We stayed there whilst doing the QC Track but not the best of recommendations -...More

We stayed here on our last night of the Queen Charlotte track and were disappointed by the experience. Most people choose to stay the last night in Portage, and after our experience at Lochmara we can say this lodge is not worth the extra time...More

Plenty to do from lazing on the beach with a book - even have a book library swap your old for a different one when finished, through too all sorts of activities from kayaks to strolling through their gardens to the hammock haven. Fantastic food,...More

Access only by boat to this local gem. Full restaurant and accommodation offered. Underwater museum and forest walk nearby. Service leaves a little to be desired; “It’s best if you order at the counter.” “I’d be happy with second best.” I replied but to no...More

This review is for outdoor activities, and not for accommodation/restaurant. The area is small and very "touristy". Most of typical NZ attractions (feeding eels, glow worms, etc.) are possibly better represented elsewhere, but at Lochmara everything is close together and can be done in one...More
