My husband and I wanted to do the Queen Charlotte track however the forecast was not good. Beachcombers reception informed us no need to pre-buy the ticket but turn up at 8.30am the next day if we still want to go for the 9am departure. We did and enjoyed Julian's (the pilot) extensive knowledge & commentaries about the Sound. The... More

We took the Beachcomber mail boat cruise and it was wonderful. What a great way to see Queen Charlotte Sound as well as the residents who live there. The short stop at Cook Cove was such fun, followed by coffee on the boat. Our captain was knowledgable and kept us entertained as well as keeping his eye out for photo... More

This year they have started a "season pass". How good is that? The cruises are spectacular to begin with. . . I don't care where you're from. And they used to be around $75 and up for a trip lasting about 3-4 hours. This year they have an unlimited ride pass for a year for $200. I got my partner... More

My wife and I walked the first day of the Queen Charlotte track using Beachcomber to access Ships Cove to start and returning from Furneaux Lodge. It’s a fabulous day walk – well worth pausing in Picton to complete. The ferry service was excellent, Julian – the skipper – was excellent, full of funny stories and anecdotes. He spotted dolphins... I used them for the cruise to the Bird sanctuary island with the walk to Punga Cove from another Lodge. The island wildlife sanctuary was fantastic but one hour was not enough. I saw lots of birds close up.It was better than a zoo aviary. My walk was a bit less successful I am 70 years old and an extremely... More

We were in Picton and wanted to see the Queen Charlotte Sound by boat. The tour went a few hours and the captain provided good commentary on the area and historical points along the way. We made two walking stops both related to Captain Cook. The first was at the top of a small island in the Sound where Cook... More

Phil really enjoyed a bounce on rosie's full suspension on the back deck... while we all had a great time warming up on his big boat. Jokes aside- great service, interesting commentary, on time, bags were waiting for us, great value for money. Thanks for a great trip!

Captain Phil kept us entertained on the hour to Ship Cove and the 40 minute return at the end of the ride. Smooth ride and excellent bike transport. And, yes, the cabin was heated.

We took the beachcomber cruise to do a one day hike along the queen charlotte track. We stopped off at Moturara island in the morning, then walked from ship cove to furnaux lodge. Personally, I was more than happy with the Moturara Island hike. The other four hour hike became rather repetitive because the scenery looked more or less the... More

This is a wonderful relaxing way to while away a few hours among the most spectacular scenery. Highlight was seeing the little dog soooo excited waiting for his dog biscuit. Yes, we would do it again.
