We cruised into Picton on a large cruise ship and spent the day in there. It was a beautiful day - the population of 4000 people was overrun by thousands of crew ship passengers. The local highland band played and walked down the Main Street. It is a beautiful town with very friendly people, lovely beach area and good walks.

Always just passed through picton but decided to stay this time. Lovely setting, great walks from picton. Nice promenade and things to keep children happy. Lots of tours go from marina. Plenty to do. Not many good restaurants but will stay there again as didn't get to do everything. Can even take tour of wineries from and combine with cruise.

Picton is in a perfect location being surrounded by the incredible landscape of the Marlborough Sounds. Picton is incredibly picturesque and when the weather was good we often sat along the promenade to take in the views. The town itself is laid back with quite a lot to do but we found it to be an expensive place so we... More

Not much to do here but walking. (Good thing I like walking!) cute little town... but anything more than a few days would be too many. Friendly locals

Ok, having never visited New Zealand, I had no idea that Picton existed, but a cruise on the "Ovation of the Seas" mega ship was about to change my opinion of the land of the long white yawn, particularly a visit to the sleepy, but remarkably beautiful Picton. This enchanting little village is a Mecca for wreck divers, the gateway... More

Bad weather today(02/Jan/2017). If anyone travel start from Picton, as a experienced travel agent who based in Auckland, then I recommend you not to stay so long in this boring town. For their tiny museum visit, you will be charged for 5NZD per adult. To have a look a old ship, 12NZD you need to pay. Don't pick any of... More

We travelled around New Zealand for over three weeks in November and this was one of our favourite areas. The town is small and compact and there are free walks directly from the centre which provide stunning views of Picton Sound and the Queen Charlotte track. We were pleased that we stayed here for the night (rather than just driving... More

We visited the Picton area while on a cruise and so docked at the container pier, and had to get a shuttle into town. The town is small, but very pleasant with a lovely waterfront. There was a craft market when we were there. We walked through town and hiked the Track to Bob's Bay and back. This was a... More
