Well I thought i had done some research about this track on a bike. Knew there was steep parts and grade 4 (fine I thought i will walk that) but nothing had prepared me for it. There had been a lot of rain previously to our starting and the first section from ship cove was essentially not rideable with large... More

Hugging the coast of the Marlborough Sounds, this gentle 71km walk is suitable for all ages and average fitness. Unbelievable scenery, diverse wildlife and fantastic accommodation options along the way this is definitely a great way to experience the New Zealand outdoors. I travelled with my two daughters 12 and 9 who aren't regular hikers but they made it and... More

We have been hiking the track for three days although we are far away from ambitious and fit sportsman but we able to handle the distances easily, although we got our luggage transported. Stayed in backpackers accomodation at punga cove, which was great, and Treetops which was dirty and disgusting and not to be recommended. Doing only the first to... More

The QC Track was very beautiful and not too difficult to walk. We especially enjoyed the 23 km. walk to Punga Cove using the water taxi for transport to and from- very beautiful and not difficult.

We chose the 4 day “Freedom Walk” via Natural Encounters and stayed in comfortable lodges along the way. It is a beautiful well-defined track and the fantastic views of the Marlborough Sounds as we turned every bend exceeded our expectations. It is a photographer’s dream for panorama shots. We are in our 50s and although this trek is rated “easy”... More

We walked the 71km over 4 days, staying in lodges along the way. Each day had it's own challenges from the steepness of the climbs to the rocky, muddy trails. Views of the spectacular sound made it all worthwhile as did the diverse flora from massive giant tree ferns to magnificent stands of beech trees.

We did the track on mountain bikes over 2 days. Initial day was amazing views and nice rides. Second day was pouring down rain and wasn't as nice. Be aware that no matter what time you finish the track the water taxis don't start until 3:30pm especially biking in the rain means you'll get to the end around 11am and... More

Consider the 4 day walk rather than the 3 day if you are not well trained. On a good day with good track conditions walking to Punga Cove from Ships Cove is well achievable but with a muddy slippery track it can be very tough so consider a stop at Furneaux Lodge.

2 couples enjoyed this walk, while at times some hills challenged us, the views were well worth it. Great accommodation at days end, to help ease aching muscles, with great dining. Well worth doing, but need a reasonable level of fitness to undertake. We enjoyed brilliant weather throughout the four days which was a bonus and certainly added to our... More

Wow. A great way to have a NZ trekking adventure. The weather was raining at times which added the challenge of navigating wet, muddy trails but it was still fantastic. Day 3 was a bit long and arduous in the rain, but when the skies cleared the views were stunning. We stayed at lodges along the way which made for... More
