This is a beautiful city. The main square has colonial buildings surrounding a park. There are palm trees, white iron fences, and plenty of flowers and sun. Just to sit in the shade for a few minutes here is a great pleasure.

Stroll around the plaza taking in the 450 year old history of Trinidad and finish your visit with an excellent cocktail at the restored Iberostar Grand Hotel on the northern side of the plaza.

We visited Trinidad with a guide as part of our tour off our cruise ship and were pleased to have the benefit of the local knowledge. Plaza Mayor is the historic centre of the town which is a UNESCO heritage site. The square is really an open-air museum displaying Spanish colonial architecture as it is the site of various buildings... More

This square is fabulous. But it would be even more fabulous if it wasn't so dark at night...! They try to save light by using super low-power, white bulbs. The square would be so much nicer with a warm and more intense yellow light.

Lovely to wander through, sit and soak it all in. Visit nearly Cafe Don Pepe for coffee. Less lively than some squares, but historic.

A pretty part of the old town, with a nice park and well restored historic buildings. One of those must see places, but not a trip highlight.

Plaza Mayor has a lot to offer. There are lovely views, nice buildings, great bars and lots of places to watch people go by. It's beautiful.
