Lived there in the early 70s, kids went to one room school house. Over the last 50 years have gone up several times of the year. We love it. I recommend packing a lunch though,as the fare is limited, and fairly pricey. I love going all the way up, beyond the ski valley for a quiet hike overlooking oracle.

Mt. Lemmon is an alpine get-a-way 45 minutes from Tucson, AZ located in the Coronado National Forest. Hikers, campers and Sunday joy-riders are all drawn to the mountain for the stunning scenery and a "cool off" from the desert heat. Bicyclists from across the US come to train on the Catalina Highway-the only paved access-which passes through the Sonoran desert,... More

I happen to live at Tanque Verde and Catalina Highway which is the turn to go up to Mt. Lemon. It is about a 40 minute ride from that point and is well worth the trip. During the summer months when the thermometer, in Tucson, reaches 100+ degrees, it is great to head up and get into much cooler temperatures.... More

The drive up and down is breathtaking, several places to stop off and take in the views across the area, and some have trails to follow away from the parking for some piece and quiet, BUT watch the edges and wildlife. We drove up to the Saw Mill Cafe and had sandwiches etc for lunch

Living in Tucson, this is our get away place from the heat! During the summer you will enjoy the 70ish degrees after being in town where its 110. During the winter you can enjoy the ski and snow boarding because our Mt.Lemmon actually gets snow. Hiking is a plus so many different trails. And definitely a place for cookouts with... More

We have traveled to Mount Lemmon at various times of the year. Late spring and early fall are best even though other times are fun as well. This is relatively high elevation so people with breathing problems should be careful. We have driven up there for no other reason than to have a late lunch and the beauty of the... More

Great ride up the mountain. If you are a cyclist, ride your bike to the top. . Wonderful food at the iron door restaurant at the top. Ride the sky lift and do some hiking at the top.

Most people unfamiliar with Tucson don't realize they can go from the the Mohave desert to an alpine atmosphere in just an hour. And it's a great way to get away from the heat of the summer. There are numerous picnic and camping spots to chose from, surrounded by soaring Ponderosa pine. It's a beautiful place to camp or just... More

I love mount Lemmon, with all that green and high altitud make me feel wonderful, happy, great. It is a place to scape and let your soul be free, in winter you can enjoy the snow.
