We came to glamis for some atv riding and dirt bike riding. It was everything you here about lots of dunes to ride and plenty of terrain to cover. It being March it was off season and not many people were there. Which we thought was great we pretty much had the dunes to ourselves. The down side to that... More

Absolutely astonishing to see - we wondered what the strange colour on the horizon was and as we drew nearer we could see it was sand dunes. It is a strange feeling driving through these. Take extreme caution if you have to drive through and sand onthe road - we got stuck and had to be pushed out.

I am sure that Lawrence of Arabia must have been filmed at this site. There were several dune buggies throughout the dunes and it was exciting to hear the motors, but not see them, and then, boom, there they were. Amazing photo op.

What can i say, Glamis is one of my favorite places on earth, the beauty and simplicity of the desert is beyond compare . . . but it is not for everyone. To have the best trip possible, you need to be prepared that you are going to be in the middle of the desert, that means that you must... More

You really need an off-road vehicle to experience the dunes up close. This is a place to see in the late fall, winter or early spring. Temperatures can easily reach 100+degreesvin late spring and all summer. You can see sand dunes off of both sides of of highway 79. There is a small cemetery that is worth a visit. It's... More

Located in an region that is basically semi-desert - the Sonora - and mostly low scrub and rocks -the Mojave - the Glamis sand dunes are in marked contrast ot their surrounding area, undulating, heaving ranges of sand to explore. They are neither the only nor the most spectacular dunes in the Southwest, butthey are sure worth a stop when... More

This is a must stop for off roaders, but is also a nice stop for those who live wildlife and the outdoors. Birds, coyotes, snakes, kangaroo mice, butterflies and tortoises live in the vast areas of the dunes. So don't let the motorcycles turn you off to these beautiful dunes.

Last year I rode my Sportster to the desert via El Centro CA. I stayed at a "Choice Hotel" in El Centro CA as it was centerlly located. The time of year (weather wise) was fantastic, not to hot nor cold. There were not many people around, almost no traffic, which I found refreshing. My motorcycle ride through the long... More
