Having hiked to within 1 mile the day before from Prairie Creek on the James Levine trail turning back due to impending darkness, we decided to drive in from the Elk Prairie entrance. It's a difficult drive best done in 4wd. Fern Canyon is spectacular...More

Well worth the long bumpy road and the watery hike. Second time here. Also a very beautiful beach. A tent campground as well.

Lucky for us, we found a herd of elk resting on the bluffs before the short hike to Fern Valley. This is worth this scary drive up Davidson Road/Dirt Path and price to enter the park.

Dirt road is really rough for a car to drive on. We paid the $8 entry fee only to find out that you have to drive through a creek to get to the fern canyon. Ranger said even a corvette could drive through the creek...More

We visited in July of 2016 and it was awesome. The hike to the canyon was short and easy and we saw elk on the way there and back. The ferns were just awesome, it was like you were in another world. They filmed part...More

It's a bit of a drive but at the end of the road is a short walk to this lovely spot. The canyon is narrow and filled with ferns. You'll get your feet wet!

The drive back in here is long and the road isn't the best but the canyon itself is at the end and you can park in the gravel lot and it's only a short walk to the entrance and from there you can walk as...More

After driving the off beaten and bumpy path (off of the Prairie Creek) we reached the view of the beach and kept on driving. We reached a booth where we paid $8 to enter the day use area. Luckily we had an SUV as we...More

Very beautiful rainforest area with lush fern growth, cool creek and stunning scenery. It can get crowded for a remote spot but worth the visit. Step inside a scene from Jurassic Park with raining canyon waterfall sides. Pictures do not do it justice.

We have hiked this several times but always a beautiful adventure. You always get your feet a bit wet so bring a change of shoes and socks. Downed trees block the canyon a ways up and stops most hikers except the younger ones who dare...More

I think he should be fine. You can always just go in as far as he can and you'll still see quite a bit. I walked barefoot in April and got up there quite a ways! So a 4 year old thats prepared with boots or water shoes... More
