I read about how this sea came to exist,why its in its present state and what will happen if it's allowed to deteriote further. When I visited it ,it looked so much better than I thought, the water looked great from a distance(not up close) and there was plenty of waterfowl. The smell of rotting fish was in the air... More

The Albert Frey-designed North Shore Beach & Yacht Club is an historic icon that re-opened in May of 2010. The Salton Sea History Museum & Visitor Center was located in historic icon until 6-2011. Thinking this would be a pleasant inland beach area for us near Palm Springs, Oh! what a surprise, it was derelict and smelly. Don't make the same mistake, avoid at all costs!!

We hit the North Shore and Mecca Beach areas of the Salton Sea while in Palm Springs. I was very surprised to find that the Albert Frey designed North Shore Yacht Club has been restored.
