For anyone who has never seen a giant redwood up close, you are missing out on one of life's awe inspiring moments. To see an entire forest of these is almost overwhelming. In a good way. These ancient giants are so beautiful and the energy...More

Wow wow wow!!! We were driving northbound so we had to do the Chandelier Tree drive through first. We have a Lexus SUV and it made it through when we turned in the rear view mirrors. It's $5 to drive through the area but it's...More

What a great drive! Unbelievable huge trees and the Lost Coast! Terrible road. The fastest you can go is 15 to 20 mph. It's awful. But worth the drive!

It was so beautiful and the trees were massive, but most of the road was closed because there was a marathon of some sort! We were very disappointed and a bit bummed out but my advice is to check the dates you wanna go and...More

That's how long we were there. On a motorcycle trip we decided to take the ride through. Not one disappointment at all. Will definitely be back to do it again.

Unless you are in a desperate hurry, this 30 mile stretch of alternative route is the only way to go. Small villages dot the Redwood forest as the road meanders through these majestic giants. Fantastic - even in the pouring rain!

Must see State Park. Visiting this, or probably any other Redwood forest gives you a good perspective about how magnificent nature is. We learned that redwoods were all over the world originally, but we all know why many forests disappeared! Now its up to anyone...More

The Avenue of the Giants is a 31 mile long road lined with ancient Redwoods. All along the way are places to park and explore on foot. The trees, some thousands of years old, reach up hundreds of feet to the sky. They are breath-taking....More

This drive was one of my family's favorites! We started in the morning and saw almost no one else. There were a few spots where the road was tight, so be prepared for that. It is a must if you are traveling through the area.

We stayed in Eureka which was about a half hour north of the Avenue of the Giants. There are several hotels there. The Best Western Plus Bayshore Inn was pleasant with a room by the garden area. Hope you have a lovely trip.

That's a surprise to me. I'd suggest calling the state or possible the best western in Garberville. The BW makes their money on that drive, they should know the answer
