The reviews on TA pretty much say it all - highly recommended if you have the opportunity to drive and stop along this magnificent natural cathedral. Stunning muted verdant colours highlighted by piercing shards of light encapsulated in a translucent green canopy. Stop along the way and take a few strides off the roadway to be transported into ancient times... More

The giant redwoods are an incredible experience, and the avenue of the giants presents them in a great way. In addition to the large groves of old growth redwoods, they have guided drives that highlight the history and importance of the trees. The visitor center was big and had lots of displays and information about the park and its history.

Ok Folks, I got lost and it took two hours to find the Trail of the 100 Giants. They had had it closed and just reopened and have not gotten the signs back up. And as this is a national forest (not a park) there is no gate and maps. So PRINT OUT MAP FROM INTERNET b4 you go! There... More

If you are in Napa, it is a very long day but well worth the drive if you want to see redwoods. Stop at the one picnic area which is just before the visitor center (driving north). You have to pay to get in but it is well worth the small price. You can eat surrounded by these giants and... More

Avenue of trees spectacular but on their map they show a short cut to the ocean. Road at times is gravel only, very narrow, no gas, stores, stops during what turns out to be 4 hours to go 60 miles cuz of road conditions. No cell service entire way. And to top it off once you finally arrive at beach... More

How do you review something as spectacular and amazing as giant redwood trees? I don't know but I will try. Fist off, pictures do not do justice to the experience these trees will give you. To appreciate they majesty and splendor you have to just go and see them. As soon as we entered the Ave of the Giants the... More

We drove the length of the Avenue of Giants on a sunny day. One would drive from areas of sunshine into areas of very deep shade. It was almost like driving in and out of tunnels. The number and size of the trees was impressive. I thought this drive was better in some ways than the drives though the redwoods... More

We drove the whole route and loved every second of it. You can stop at any of the multiple stops and just walk into the forest. The trees are huge and it feels like you go back in time!

Magnificent stretch of road. Gloriously gigantic trees and lush, beautiful forests. I think I saw that people had given this wonderful piece of earth a low rating. They must have had a seizure and it was an accident. This whole area of California is wonderful and having seen most of the state, is the definitely highlight. Definitely recommend the detour...
