Road currently closed at the summit, but large area to turn around/park at the top. Views are awesome and worth the drive! Didn't get to hike due to weather, but would love to go back!

It's a beautiful scenic drive from Buena Vista and the view from the top is awesome, especially the sunset. There are no bathrooms, and the road is closed going down the other side, but there's a lake and some trails to get to other picture...More

As per Crested Butt Chamber of Commerce, Cottonwood Pass is closed until at least until end of summer 2018, possibly longer.☹️☹️ Monarch Pass was a suggested alternative. Time to reroute ourselves!

Drove up from Buena Vista in mid June and took in the beautiful views, watched a family sledding, and hiked around a little bit. Definitely worth the drive from BV!

Yes, about half of the road is currently gravel. Scheduled to be paved in 2017 - 2018. You can drive it with any type of vehicle. I did it on a Honda Gold Wing motorcycle. Well worth the trip.

We absolutely loved Cottonwood Pass (CR 306). We took it from the Collegiate Peaks Scenic Byway US 285. The elevation at the pass is 12,126' and the views are outstanding.
