SOOO many mosquitos

We camped one night in the logging campsite area and once out of our car--the mosquitos were swarming all over us. We were putting on bug spray with DEET on every half hour and... read more

This is a must do while in Hinkley, Mn. There are many different trails that you can go on. We decided to do the two rivers St Croix & Kettle trail aprox 5.3 miles. This is a beautiful trail!! However, there are a lot of wet spots due to flooding, so plan footwear/clothing accordingly. When you get to where the... More

Took a beautiful six mile hike and seen all kinds of mushrooms. Camp sites are spacious, beautiful brick main buildings. Bathrooms and showers very clean and water pressure was good. Gigantic park!

Such a gem on the Kettle and St. Croix Rivers. Great hiking but beware of the rivers flooding because hiking trails can be flooded. Great campsites but very open so not ideal if you want more privacy.

We just did an overnight trip and while the park is beautiful and many great hiking trails the bathrooms are a disgrace. It is possible to have vault toilets without them being so smelly and disgusting. Don't know why they don't take some measures to clean things up. Also many of the camp sites are so close together so not... More

We camped one night in the logging campsite area and once out of our car--the mosquitos were swarming all over us. We were putting on bug spray with DEET on every half hour and still when we got home had bug bites all over. A few pluses--the bathrooms/showers were great--flush toilets and clean bathrooms and found the people friendly working... More

Went here to camp for a couple days. Didn't use many of the resources available, but appreciated the itinerary schedule in the bathrooms to tell us what was going on each day we were there. Bathrooms were AWESOME! Clean, updated and it was awesome to see them using solar panels. Great experience and even though it was busy, it wasn't... More

I felt compelled to give the park a higher review after seeing so many 1 star ratings of the park because there were bugs. I mean, come on, you're in the woods, of course there will be mosquitoes and ticks! This is definitely NOT a 1 star park! I can only speak for the Old Logging Trail campground but here's... More

I took the family to this park for the 4th of July weekend fully expecting to encounter some traffic at the park, being the National holiday. What I didn't realize was how big the park is! With over 100 campgrounds, it can get somewhat congested during summer holidays. If this is the camping experience you seek, you will find it... More

We stayed over Memorial Weekend have mixed feelings about the camping, but loved who big the park is and it's beautiful. Campsite: For the camping, let's just say that it boggles our mind that the park is so huge, yet the camp sites are very bad, crammed and no privacy at all. Unfortunately, we were put right next to the... More

I got 11 ticks on me here.. Park map was not the most helpful as well, other than kayaking and some horse trails not much to do. As others mention there are a lot of bugs which would be hell in the summer. Pretty rivers though and the RV camp site is nice. Kettle river is pretty one good fishing... More
