Charles Kuralt was right this is the most beautiful drive in America. Mountains, lakes, waterfalls, wild flowers, wildlife ... It has it all and more.

over 54 years ago I worked on top of the mountain installing guardrails on the road, We blasted every post hole with dynamite. They only put guardrails on top and not on the way up or down so they would not impede rock slides and block the road. Beautiful scenery and dont miss out on the great fishing on Clarks... More

The people in Red Lodge were great and made me feel right at home. Being a motorcycle rider it was perfect because you were on 212 the Beartooth Hwy. Riding over the Beartooth Pass in August was great especially after leaving the hot humid Tennessee weather. It was my first time and I was truly amazed at the scenery. I... More

Drove this in the end of Sept and yes there was traces of snow! BEAUTIFUL look outs and stops along the way. We went out of our way to drive this and so glad we did. Just do it...slowly. :-)

We were lucky and hit the pass on a day when it was open. We drove up from the Montana side to the summit and it was breathtaking. I grew up in the mountains of Utah, but this was spectacular. I wish we would have had time to go down the Wyoming side, but we didn't and I will have... More

I'll never forget this drive! I come from mountains and curvy roads, but the Beartooth showed me a thing or two. It was beautiful and scary all at the same time. As we drove, we could see snow coming. The closer we got, the wind picked up and the temperature dropped more than 15 degrees. We drove out as amazed... More

So, I debated not driving across the Beartooth Pass, since I was driving 36' Class A gas RV, and some had said it was near to impossible in a large RV. Well, I'm glad I was "foolish" and drove it against internet advice. Went across from Red Lodge, MT into Yellowstone' NE entrance. Took it easy going up, and easy... More

We almost didn't make it. The day we planned on going they were closed due to inclimate weather. We waited two days and tried again. Success! What a beautiful scenic drive, allow three hours so you can take all the turnoffs and drive up to the tower. The tower is three miles of us paved roads, but so worth it.... More

Absolutely beautiful drive. Had been told by many a must drive for a once in a lifetime adventure. Not disappointed at all very curvy road but enjoyed every mile. Would recommend to anyone visiting that area. Met many interesting people at all stops which you must stop often and look out.
