Totally agree on the needing plenty time. You are travelling in the right month for daylight. You will be surprised how often you stop. It doesn't look too far on a map but with the twists and turns it takes time. Enjoy.

We were in an SUV. Roads are narrow, steep with hairpin turns and little shoulder. I agree with above answer.

Only place I saw along the drive was top of the world. I think they have cabins and camp sites. We stayed at red lodge inn. Not a big hotel, but a family owned motel. Nice sized rooms and awesome people. There are other... More
