Geology Field Trip

Just driving the road into Cave Lake State Park was a geologist's dream. The lake was cold but beautiful. Wish we'd had more time to explore.

The camp spots were nice and the best bathrooms ever. As for the fishing, we didn't do too bad. It wasn't very fun in regards to doing anything else with 2 kids under 5. It's was beautiful though. Just a long drive from Vegas.

Nice place to get away to for a while. Did some fishing. Busy spot on holidays. I would recomend this place for anyone who loves the outdoors but not far off the beaten path.

We were in Ely for two nights, and decided to visit because of the Bathtub Races an earlier reviewer noted. It's a beautiful lake with clear water surrounded by mountains. We found a spot to sit with our chairs and enjoyed the camaraderie of the crowd. The races were a hoot, and for a while I felt like a local... More

We found a camp site, paid our fee, put down stuff to mark that site occupied. Most camp grounds have a tab you attach to the post with the site number. This tab has the dates site is occupied. But that does not exist here! We returned to find our site occupied. Our camp stuff stolen !!! The facilities are... More

The road leading to the park is worth the effort on it's own, very scenic with some great views. If you pay more attention to the views than the road you can quite easily miss the entrance to the park and you end up on a narrow, twisty, single lane dirt track, so if you run out of road, stop... Couldn't get a spot at the lake view campground, we stayed at Elk Flats which is just a couple minutes from the lake. Campground is very nice with flush toilet, hot showers and a dump station. No hookup sites. The sites are spaced apart nicely . This is a great spot for a weekend and the lake is very nice.... More

Another one of Nevada's hidden treasures. About 4 hours away from Las Vegas, lots of gas stations on the way. The park itself is very well kept, lots of wildlife and camp grounds. The weather there was a cool 65 degrees so a nice change from the 110 Vegas heat. The lake is beautiful, didn't see anyone swimming but lots... More

We stayed at the Lake View Campground as the other one (elk flat) was not open yet so I don't know how many spots they have there. Not very many spaces available at the Lake View campground but they are all very nice so get there early. Would not recommend a trailer longer than 28-30' for the lake view area.... More
