This is the second time I have taken this tour, anyone that is too cheap to pay the $30.00, is missing out on a fantastic opportunity. It is just amazing to see the inside of this dam and to here the stories of how it was built and is maintained.

This is a lovely place to stop off. I don't know if we were just lucky but there were no crowds. It was about 22 degrees and blue skies. I can imagine that the peak of summer time would be busier. There is a boat hire place here too so if you fancy a different view of the hoover dam... More

It is a nice drive from Las Vegas to Lake Mead. And once you are there the scenery is nice too but $20 I think is a bit pricey to get into the area.

When leaving Hoover Dam, there is a turnoff to the right to go to the Lake Mead overlook. Spectacular view, with not many people present. We visited the overlook around 11:30 am on a Sunday. Don't miss this area!

Whether it's the Grand Canyon or Hoover Dam you are passing right by if you driving from Las Vegas. It's really beautiful and a good stop for pictures. The lake was created by the over spill from the making of the Hoover from the Colorado River.

Beautiful turquoise lake against the rock formations. If you think you will be traveling this way again and will wait until later…. Water level has lowered and exposed previously submerged structures, beaches dwindling, marinas shifting, and projected in 10 years there will not be enough water to pass through the generators for electricity and pumping stations will be installed to... We rented a car for two days to get away from the strip and took one day to drive to lake mead since the grand canyon was a bit to far. A walk along side the lake through tunnels built in 1931 that were used to transfer steel to build the Hoover dam. Took about 2hours, if you planned for... More

Went to Lake Mead for bird watching, which was good. Saw lots of different water birds as the various lookouts. Lake seems very low and the beaches are not what I would expeect, just large gravel, like a forest service back country road. Did not see the trash like some other reviewers had reported, but several areas could use a... More

Thank you to the really helpful staff at the information/tourist point. Helped us with a map and points to stop as our hire car didn't have say nav so we were getting a bit lost! Thank you for your help (and a loo break!)
