I've put on a separate review under 'Mount Washington Auto Road' specifically about the drive. This is about facilities and activities at the summit. Weather was good on the day we were there so had great views. Was busy at the summit, but it's going to be if the weather is good at the top of a mountain that you... More

Beautiful to view this tall mountain on a clear day. I made photos of the mountain from a number of vantage points miles apart.

... it's about 1km straight up taken over maybe a 7km journey by foot - all rocks to clamber over and the odd waterfall to edge across - not for the faint hearted but not particularly technical climb - BUT watch the weather, it can change in a flash and with the geographic setting of the Mountain it can experience... We visit this Mountain by road, just amazing. Although in Europe the mountains I visit were about 3500-4000 meter(12.000 feed) this was still great. Mostly due to vue, percentage of climbing and the narrow road. If You are not confedent in a car and driving you should not take this road. Nice thing also, at entrance you receiver a sticker... What an experience to drive the auto road to the top of Mt. Washington! It is not for the faint of heart what with all the curves, narrow road (no shoulders, just enough room for two vehicles) and steep drop-offs. But the drive is very much worth the view from the top! Take a jacket because the temperature drops dramatically... More

Some friends and I went to Mount Washington. We took the Mount Washington Cog Railway, a/k/a the lazy person’s way to the top. It was cloudy, windy, and 44° F when we got there. We spent most of our hour at the summit in the Sherman Adams Visitors Center. First, we signed the guest book. Nearby, some folks were sending... More

Ammonoosuc ravine trail is the most direct way down from the top of Mt. Washington. We made it with four adults and six children ages 6-11 without a problem. In fact children were setting the pace. The rock fields would be very slippery on a wet day. Make sure to wear the right shoes and carry enough water. We went... More
