This was a totally worthwhile hike. I hiked on Friday, Sept 16. I started at 2pm and returned by 4pm. Except for the few hundred yards around the parking lot, I didn't encounter another soul on the entire trail. I really wanted to be able to explore the White Sands National Monument and found that this hike was easily the best way of doing just that.
