Spent 08/06 driving the Cascade Lakes highway and pulling off at various turnouts to allow our granddaughter to get a line wet. The Deschutes is a great fishing river. A great way to spend the day during a hot August day.

I fished just about every river/tributary for trout/salmon/steelhead in the Northeast and nothing can prepare you for...More

We recently whitewater rafted down the Deschutes River with an outfit run by the Seventh Mountain resort agency and had a really great (and not too expensive) experience. Having undergone a similar activity on a class4/5 section in Costa Rica, our family was rather anxious...More

I have been on the river near Maupin, near Lake Billy Chinook, and in and around Bend, it is a great place to spend time. Hiking along the river is beautiful. Rafting, or just floating the placid stretches, is really fun. Just dangling your feet...More
