This was our first visit to the Allegheny National Forest. Some areas are lovely, but it just wasn't what I thought it would be. Maybe it is because I have spent too much time in the beauty of Skyline Drive through the Blue Ridge Mountains (breath taking views). We entered through the Southeast entrance to Allegheny, explored the mid-section of... More

The forest is beautiful, tranquil, magnificent, peaceful and deserted on the Thanksgiving Day weekend but BEWARE metal leg traps are allowed and can be found in campgrounds and trails. This was our first visit to the Allegheny National Forest. At Willow Bay campground in the Allegheny National Recreation Area we parked the travel trailer right next to the ( closed... More

This is truly a great place to visit. Do some research before you visit as some of the locations can be confusing. Park welcome center is full of information and there is a lot to do and see. Beautiful spot and well worth any time you get to spend here, even just for a drive through the forest.

I'm sure glad I found this place . I did some hiking down below the rock face and saw some huge boulders and lots of emerald moss . I could have explored all day , if I had time . The view is incredible from the overlook and lots of great photo opportunities.

We travelled from Dubois to Niagara Falls, and decided to take a scenic route through this Park. The vistas were beautiful and a change from the busy highways, and also took us longer on our trip.

I stayed with my dog in one of the cabins at the Willow Bay campground, and had a great time. The campground is very pretty. The Oak Loop section, where I was, has a stream running behind the cabins and some of the tent sites; Hemlock Loop is on the lake. I went during the week, in mid-June, and it... More

We stayed at site 34 a week before the busy end of summer holiday. The campground was packed. It was very hot this weekend (upper 80's with 100% humidity) We checked in on a Friday around 3pm, and were the only ones there, but by about 6pm the place was jumping with weekend campers. The hut when you pull in... More

I really enjoyed being at the càmpground, although the only 5 sites we were shown as being available didn't have much n the way of good flat tent camping sites. My boyfriend complained a lot about the old facilities, etc. He remembers the old days when the Forest Service ran the campgrounds rather than the concessionaires but I don't remember... More

We camped at Willow Bay the week before Memorial Day to beat the crowd. It's a gorgeous campground. We stayed in a tent at site #70 in the Hemlock loop...no hookups. The campground was clean, the bathrooms were tidy and the showers were hot. Camping right on the lake was amazing! The entire area was BEAUTIFUL! This is PA and... More
