I wish we were able to spend more time at the park. We hiked the summit of Old Baldy. Moderately rated trail. The trail is quite rocky so take a hiking stick. We will be back next fall to hike the other trails

We got there before the park opens at 8 am. They have 2 drive lanes, 1 for campers and 1 for day-users. We saw campers go inside the headquarter to get the permits. We were day-users, so parked next to the headquarter and waited. At...More

This was the perfect spot to catch some fall foliage and escape our cell phones! It was a gorgeous drive out through Texas Hill Country. I read that Lost Maples is the best spot to see fall colors in Texas, but I could not get...More

OK, we went for a few days to check out the park. We have a 37 ft. class A motorhome and saw online that there were plenty of sites. We drove up to the office, the friendly clerks let us drive through the campground to...More

The park was clean, beautiful, not full, and is a great way for families to experience the hills of Texas. One of the best features is that it is on the Frio River. Plan to bring everything you need to cook for the visit. If...More

There is a Circle K convenience store at the intersection of Hwy 83 and 1050 right outside of the park's entrance. There are then other options if you drive south to Concan or north to Leakey.
