We stayed in goblin valley state park and took a day to do the little wild horse canyon. This is an amazing, non technical slot for the entire canyon. you can do just the wild horse canyon or keep going and link up to the bell...More
We did the full loop that’s around 8 miles. Not a lot of elevation gain but some climbing over boulders required. Highly recommend this hike but make sure you have enough time to complete since it is lengthy. If you just want to do the...More
I learned about this canyon from tripadvisor. It is a really enjoyable and beautiful slot canyon hike. Driving from Torrey, Utah, on Highway 24, you drive through Capitol Reef National Park. You don't actually enter the park, and do not need to purchase admission. It...More
I'm glad my husband knew not to enter at the first mouth of the canyon that you come to. It becomes a little difficult. Climb up the ridge and come back down through established foot trails. Still a little adventuresome to get in there but...More
One of the nice things about this slot canyon is that you don’t need any technical skills to manage a fine loop trip. Just some moderate climbing to get to the entrance, where the routes are sign posted. So you get all the beauty and...More
Great fun for adults and kids alike. My little son isn't always crazy about hiking, but he loooooves slot canyons, and Little Wild Horse was another good one he enjoyed climbing around in, like a cross between hide and seek and a never-ending jungle gym,...More
Nothing is hard to find where we come from. This is a bit remote, not super well marked, and lord help me, no internet service anywhere near. Fortunately I had downloaded the hike map from AllTrails and was able to find it using the gps....More
Little Wild Horse is a well-known slot canyon you reach on a 6-mile gravel road just before you enter Goblin Valley State Park. It is one of the few really narrow slot canyons you can traverse without technical climbing gear and skills. And that is...More
Do you enjoy posting photos to Instagram? Look no further. Little Wild Horse Slot Canyon provides gorgeous rock formations with spectacular natural lighting, plus it's a fun hike. But be forewarned... the rocks are in the Utah desert so it's extremely hot and you'll have...More
We hiked for several miles. We only found a couple of slot canyons, but there’s a lot of miles to cover. It’s sandy so it’s a little rigorous. It needs better trail markers, but we enjoyed the hike and saw some beautiful scenery!

It took us under 4 hours to see both Little Wild Horse and Bell. Bell was not nearly as interesting but it was easier. You could try going down Little Wild Horse, then coming back instead of doing the loop, as a lot of the hiking is through the gravel wash under the cliffs. If you are under a real time crunch, it's easier to do Bell and come back but it isn't that narrow so you might be disappointed. You probably would want a couple hours to do that. I also would recommend making a quick stop at Goblin Valley, as it's close and easy to get a feel for in just a few minutes.

It's about a 1/2 mi up a wide, dry wash. You'll come to a rock obstacle. You can climb over it directly, or along the left side, fairly easily. Very shortly afterwards, there's small sign. Bell Canyon is straight ahead. You bear right at this point for Little Wild Horse. It starts almost immediately after you turn right. You'll find some good websites with detailed info if you do a search on Little Wilde Horse canyon.
