Like travelling into another world. Old houses and cars. Cattle in the middle of the road. Surrounded by huge mountains of ragged rock. And of course, the petroglyphs, the best we've ever seen, and we've seen quite a few. Very few people visiting on a...More

This is a great day trip from the Wasatch Front! Despite living in Utah for many years we had never visited this wonderful site. Now visiting Utah on spring break we made a day trip to visit Nine Mile Canyon. Zion, Bryce, Arches, and Canyon...More

I've been hearing about Nine Mile Canyon for years and finally took the time to visit, and I was not disappointed. This turned out to be the best collection of petroglyphs I've ever found in one location. The canyon is about 50 miles long, with...More

The petroglyphs are so accessible and amazing. Outdoor art gallery for sure. Its rugged country and very remote. Travel safely and bring a picnic!

Nine Mile Canyon is not on the way or close to most of the big tourist attractions in Utah, so I don't think a lot of people get there, but it is well worth the visit. It is true (as one reviewer noted) that much...More

A truly fantastic trip. The petroglyphs were exciting to see! I was so glad I brought my binoculars that made discreet petroglyphs available. Additionally,it definitely is Castle Country. Wall formations in the canyon were stunning. The excavation of a Fremont Indian site was interesting. There...More

Interesting canyon. The artifacts weren't marked very well. Not a lot of traffic, which was good. When it says dip in the road they are huge dips. Wouldn't want to be there in the rain

This is a fantastic place to experience native american rock art. With a little work and some patience you will be able to see fantastic representations of over 1000 years. Not all stops are marked and you will need to develop an eye for spotting...More

Not for the main road, if you're coming in from Price. It is very nice, well paved and in good condition. Our rental car was just fine. There's a way to get in on the north end of the canyon but that does take 4WD.

I forgot to mention that the road is a LOT longer than 9 miles and it is not in a canyon. Interesting tidbit for first time visitors.

Just like anywhere else in Utah, the weather is unpredictable. I've hiked Nine Mile in the middle of winter before, without a problem, and then in other years it's been snowpacked through May! I would suggest calling the... More
