It doesn't get much better than this. I have driven the loop for years and its always enjoyable. Make sure you drive the loop in a counter clockwise directions, starting off with US 2. Seems you get a better view of the scenery, especially the summit on US 20. So much to see and do.

I have lived in Washington State almost my entire life, but I had never done the Cascade Highway portion of the loop (I drove on the highway as far as Winthrop before), but it really got beautiful after Winthrop. We came here by car, there was some snow along the highway to play in, we went to a wine tasting... More

I had two full days to get from Port Townsend to Leavenworth and, on the advice of other Tripadivsor members, took Highway 20 - and what a great choice. Fall must be the absolute best time to do this: we had the roads almost to ourselves and the changing colours made a stunning backdrop to the jawdropping views. The weather... More

We were luckily traveling east bound. But the west bound traffic was backed up at least 4 miles. In speaking with a USFS volunteer, he said that was normal for a Sunday. Overall, we hiked lots on the highway 20 side. But the highway 2 side is very poorly signed and we only spent several hours researching online before we... More

So sorry you experienced traffic delays on your trip and some wayfinding issues on Hwy 2. If you have a moment to contact us at info@cascadeloop.com, we would love to get more specific details about the kinds of signage you felt was missing, and that could have improved your experience. Thanks so much for your feedback! More

We only did the Northern section which was manageable in a day. Approaching from the west, we passed Rockport State Park and Marblemount without stopping. (We did stop at the home/family-style Marblemount Diner for dinner on the way back. It filled up rather quickly.) By the way, you can't get food in the North Cascades National Park. Stopped at the... The Cascade Loop offers a great view of all the different sights Washington State has to offer. From the maritime impressions of Western Washington to the Cascades Mountains, you can find everything that makes Washington such a special place to visit, or if you're lucky to live. It is a long drive, but there is ample places to stay along... More

If starting in Yakima go west on Chinook Pass- the views are the best that direction. Also, there are some great places to eat along the way. Prior to coming east on White Pass make sure to swing in to Packwood (slightly out of the way). It is a great day trip.

You really need a lifetime to do the Cascade Loop properly. That is, take every little side road excursion, including fire roads until your car can't cut it anymore or there's no possible way of turning around. You need to get out of your car and hike to every single waterfall. You need to whitewater kayak at least once, until... More

Just the views are breathtaking! We did not have time to explore - we just pulled off at some scenic overlooks and when something really grabbed us. It was well worth the drive though. Gorgeous!

Superb drive through the mountains with awe inspiring views. There are so many trails to falls and lakes and multiple attractions that you can't do everything in a weekend but you can plan to do parts of it on different weekends if you are one of the lucky ones living in the Seattle area. You can contact any of their... More
