Beautiful pool out front of the memorial. Just like in Forrest Gump where Jenny comes out of the pool to reconcile. Pool extends to the Washington monument (obelisk). Walk up stairs and enter some rooms. Copy of the constitution written on stone. The statue of Abraham Lincoln is really huge as he peers down on you. You can see other... More

We visited this memorial after visiting Arlington National Cemetery its easy to combine. It did not feel crowded even though there was a good crowd.

Despite it being touristy, a must do in DC. the views are spectacular, the Mall around it great to walk around and the site of Lincoln and the sections of Gettysburg poignant and moving. Go in the evening when there are fewer people.

This is more awesome up close than in pictures. The Lincoln memorial is right in the middle of many other attractions so its a must see.

Another humbling experience that we did late at night with the lights bright and them getting ready for the new president to be sworn in

The memorial was particularly crowded because we visited on the Martin Luther King holiday and a few days before the Presidential Inauguration but it was still possible to feel the atmosphere of a president that fought against the injustices of slavery and tried hard to keep the Union together. A timely reminder when the USA seems to be divided.

Anyone with slightest interest in American/World history needs to see this place. With other war memorials added, overall it is a huge place to walk and explore. The Lincoln statue is more impressive in person than what you see in pics. Especially the view of pool and Washington monument makes you feel so small. It also offer quite a view... More

Not as old as it looks: built early in the 20th century. A truly imposing monument. The Gettysburg Address carved into one wall is incredibly powerful - you can almost hear Henry Fonda reading it in the final movement of Aaron Copland's Lincoln Portrait. Well worth a climb to see this famous monument.

A day... More
