Though the Library of Congress doesn't own every book ever published, it sure has most of them, with 532 miles of shelves and 115 million items, with 7,000 added each working day.

I have been putting this review off until now. I really did enjoy the Library of Congress and I appreciate all the endless work which goes into the preservation of the written word but I never felt welcome. Yes, I was there during the height...More

We visited the library of congress after a tour of the Capitol building. You can access the library from the Capitol building without having to go outside and without having to go through security again. There is a tunnel to the left of the reception...More

My 8 yr old is a huge reader, so she was ecstatic to visit the Library of Congress! We took lots of pictures of the beautiful interior and loved seeing the stories and stories of books and periodicals. Just awesome!

it's just gorgeous... truly gorgeous. But unless you are 16 and have a research reason, you can't go into the library itself. there were interesting exhibits there, however.

I love the architecture and history of the original building. The building is a gorgeous piece of art. You will find yourself looking at the ceiling as you walk through.

I thought there was more to see and do, but it is basically a research facility. I loved the fact that the buildings are connected by tunnels, so when it is sweltering hot you stay cool. The decorative details are awesome.

The LoC (Library of Congress) is an amazing building outside and inside. You can just look around yourself or get a free tour - I recommend the free tour because there is simply too much to see. I have been here many times and see...More

I agree, 90 minutes to 2 hours is a good time frame to put aside, that would give you enough time to either tour on your own or take a guided tour, plus have time to look around on your own if you do decide to do the tour... More

There are some places you cannot take pictures. Eg: the center round room where you can do research. I am sure it has a name, but I can't remember it. It was so beautiful inside and I wanted to take a picture. I asked the... More
