Though the Library of Congress doesn't own every book ever published, it sure has most of them, with 532 miles of shelves and 115 million items, with 7,000 added each working day.

Had some really good exhibits, especially Jefferson's original collection to start the Library of Congress. However, you were not able to get to the floor of the main library, and the view from the gallery is not very good, but would still recommend it.

Took a tour and our guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the library as well as the architecture and sculptures in the library. You cannot go inside the actual library, as that is reserved for research.

This library is really fantastic to see. If you don't like books, go for the artitectnure. I also visit this library because one of my hero's 'boudewijn buch ' came here often.

I wanted to see the books. They have lots of exhibits, but not the books that I was looking for. Disappointing.

I agree, 90 minutes to 2 hours is a good time frame to put aside, that would give you enough time to either tour on your own or take a guided tour, plus have time to look around on your own if you do decide to do the tour... More
