A great way to spend your time, but lunch is very expensive!

We ate supper here, because we didn't have a good plan for supper. It was $42.00 for the three of us to eat. And my son is six.

This museum has quite an array of things to see, such as the hope diamond, Dorothy's ruby slippers, and we were told soon to have a full dinosaur fossil skeleton. There is a lot to see, so make sure you go early or Reese the museum gets insanely crowded and you can't see much due to the wait.

I was in town on a business trip but my adult daughter joined me for the weekend. Whenever I am in town I always try to get to this museum. This trip did not disappoint. There was an amazing photography exhibition that I suggest everyone visit, yes even those of you that live in DC. Too gorgeous to miss and... More

They're going to have to start limiting people into these museums with timed passes......this one in particular was very crowded. The exhibits are great if you want to take the time to truly study each display and that is the only way to truly understand what you're seeing. Rooms like the gem room with the Hope Diamond is way too... More

The smithsonian museums are definitely a place to go when in DC. The natural history museum is really cool. Make it a point to see the ocean exhibit and the geology section those are the coolest parts in my opinion!

It will take a full day to visit just one museum of Smithsonian, so be careful not to over-plan, and do set aside a few days if you'd like to see all of Smithsonian. The Nature museum is a treat for people of all ages and there are lessons for all too. My favourite section was the one about Meteorite.... More

Be sure not to miss this museum! Our family enjoyed going through each room, even took in the IMAX while there. Lots of people were there on the Sunday we went but the building is large enough to accommodate all.

Visit in the morning before the crowds start. Great displays, good sections. I personally enjoyed the minerals and jewellery section where I saw the hope diamond and other attractions.

Being free and a "must do" activity add up to one very crowded museum at certain times. Visiting in the summer, it was hard to really enjoy the exhibits with the overwhelming number of people. I still recommend going but be aware that you will not be the only ones with this on the itinerary.
