In winter it's more exposed, of course, but there is so much to see around the Basin and in the Mall that there's no better place for a wander in the heart of Washington.

I have visited the ideal Basin area before, but it was especially beautiful while the cherry blossoms were making an appearance.

Walked the entire tidal basin stopping at the Jefferson Memorial and the MLK Memorial. A little cold in December but a good time with some awsome views of the Washington Memorial at sundown.

The best time by far to visit is when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, which is usually in late March.

Its a scenic walk to go by and also know the history. Cheery trees line the path on the side of the basin.

In some places, it would get a higher rating, but not everything in Washington can be tops. This is a place for a quiet break or rest away from the rush, watching the birds or the people, and looking over the water.

The Tidal Basin is always beautiful but the best time to visit is during the spring when the cherry trees are in full bloom. At that time it is simply gorgeous!

Famous for its beautiful cherry trees and the Tidal Basin that sits beside the Jefferson Memorial, The Washington Monument and the Martin Luther King Memorial, this is a great place to walk around and get a feel for the Washington, DC Mall.

We walked to Jefferson Memorial along the Tidal Basin path. Nice walk but once were past the paddle boat area there were parts of the path that seemed to be dirt rather than pavement. FYI - it is a long walk from main Mall area...More

A short walk from the Jefferson Memorial to Martin Luthers memorial takes you part of the way around the basin. The views of Washington are amazing. We were there in October during the autumn and the tree colours were stunning. Reckon Springtime there would be...More

It is open 24 hours. There are no gates, no fences. It's particularly pleasant in the evening. During the day, there are paddle boats to rent. Otherwise, it's an open area where you can also visit the monuments around the... More
